Ripples Into Waves…

As life unfolds our interactions create ripples that guide our journey. If hope and love pass through, creating a steady stream of ripples, they begin to accrue more energy, turning into waves.

We’re so excited to share the launch of Make Me Stronger Foundation! Years in the making, culminating from the laughs we shared, the support you’ve shown and the love we have – this moment was inevitable. 

It’s been 9 years since we began building our Make Me Stronger community and so much has happened in that time. Some good times, some tough times, some heavy losses and big celebrations all with a consistency of togetherness. 

When my brother and our best friend, Suneet, created this platform it was both a call to action and cry for help. An opportunity for each of us to realize our power to give strength to someone. They hoped to be a voice for a cause that needed more voices because they knew our story was not just our story. They built a community of support and empathy while trying to improve the odds for families impacted by blood cancer.

On this journey we met some incredible people from all over the world, many of whom we call friends today – families impacted by cancer, friends, partners, supporters, doctors, advocates and everyday heroes that came in so many forms. With shared experiences, shared celebrations, shared heart aches and shared promises bringing us together in the hope to care, support and uplift one another – We are extremely grateful for the familiar faces we can always count on, and the new faces and voices that are now familiar. 

We stand with the families we’ve met with our heart on our sleeve and arms extended for the hugs that are so often needed. We champion those who are with us through whatever stage of the fight they may be in. We miss dearly those we have lost, carrying their story and memory with us. We’ve celebrated heroes including one of our very own, Shree, who answered the call to give a family #afightingchance. 

As our community grew we also partnered with incredible organizations providing hope and guidance to families like ours – SAMAR, DKMS, AADP, MDRI Registry (India) and Be The Match. Coming together to reach our communities and raise awareness on the need for committed bone marrow donors. Committing to improving the odds for South Asians and minorities to find committed donors. Together we registered thousands of bone marrow donors of which 2 were matched and donated. The support and guidance they provided not only gave us hope but allowed us to share in giving that to others. We can’t thank these partners enough for what they do every single day for families like ours. For us, they will always be part of our family. 

We’ve grown, we’ve hurt, we’ve stumbled, we’ve hoped, we’ve laughed, we’ve cried, we’ve broken, but through it all, we were together. In that, lied our strength, our superpower. The same power of community we have seen over the past two years while the world was in crisis and desperate need of all kinds of healing.

It’s uplifting, it’s empowering, it’s contagious. 

That doesn’t mean there weren’t bumps along the way, I think we may be at the top of one right now – but we know it will be ok because you make us stronger.

We believe hope and strength are given and received, and when in effect it is contagious – uncovering the best in all of us. Which is why the evolution of our mission is a natural one, one where we look to expand the impact MMS has had on our family to encourage a larger community. One where we look to inspire hope and giving on a broader level. One where we open our hearts in anticipation of the additional hearts they will open, and the subsequent ripples of love and strength they will create.

With this announcement, we celebrate and thank each and every one of you for embracing the power of community!

MMS Foundation, like MMS, is for all of us. It is our legacy.
