Make Me Stronger

A call to action. A cry for help. An opportunity for you to realize your power to give strength to someone affected by a blood cancer (Leukemia, Lymphoma, and Myeloma). Get involved. Make someone stronger.

My Sister’s Story (#afightingchance)

My name is Adarsh.

In January 2010, my sister began to experience symptoms of an underlying condition. It was not until May 2011, when she was diagnosed with Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia (CLL).  CLL is a cancer of the blood and marrow that typically develops slowly.

Since her diagnosis, my sister has not yet undergone any medical treatment, such as chemotherapy. Instead, she has taken a homeopathic approach under the guidance of her physician and has changed her diet and lifestyle.

Despite these efforts over the past year, her recent blood tests have shown signs of CLL mutating into a more serious condition.  Doctors have informed her there is a high likelihood that she may be within the 5% of CLL patients who undergo Richter’s transformation or a mutation to Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia (ALL).

If this transformation happens, she will need a marrow/blood stem cell transplant to give her #afightingchance!

Unfortunately, my sister does not have a match in the registry and none of our family members are a match.

With the support of family and friends, she is staying very positive and is a complete pillar of strength.  Knowing that you are taking time to read our story will #makemestronger.

Please register yourself today so that you can help save the lives of patients who need a bone marrow match: http://makemestronger.me/registernow/.

Priya, We are sending Ekata’s HLA reports to various institutions in India to check for matches, including Tata Memorial in Mumbai. We are also hoping that MDRI becomes an accredited institution by NMDR and as a result part of the worldwide registry. Thank you for your support!

    Hi,

Just got to know about this through Arpita Joshi’s FB post. I am registered at the Marrow Donor Registry in India, which is operated by the Tata Memorial Hospital in Bombay. Is there any way we can check if I could be a match for Ekata? My blood group is A+.
