In its’ 4th year, Garba in the City will take place at 9:30pm on Saturday, September 27, 2014 at The Sports Center at Chelsea Piers. Garba in the City provides an exciting opportunity for dance enthusiasts to participate in a local cultural event. The event will once again feature live music by one of the tri-state area’s leading bands, Medley Entertainment with lead vocalist, Ritesh Rathod.
Based on the attendance and positive acclaim for the event over the past three years, Garba in the City strives to be even bigger and better this year. In anticipation of a larger audience, wehave added some new features including a roped-off areas, a longer duration with moredancing time, a variety of vendors, and refreshing beverages.
Garba in the City is excited to collaborate once again with the Nanubhai Education Foundation. A portion of proceeds will be donated to the non-profit organization, which is dedicated to improving rural education in India. Please visit http://www.nanubhai.org to learn more about this organization’s charitable cause.
Garba in the City targets young South Asian professionals who have a passion for Garba or Raas or dance enthusiasts interested in participating in a cultural event in Manhattan. In keeping with our effort to preserve and promote the culture and art of Garba-Raas in an urban setting, traditional attire is required.
