A call to action. A cry for help. An opportunity for you to realize your power to give strength to someone affected by a blood cancer (Leukemia, Lymphoma, and Myeloma). Get involved. Make someone stronger.
There are certain times in our life that are the most memorable. Getting married is one of them. It is a time where you formalize a union with someone who is your soul mate, your life partner, your match.
Soni Sheth and Raji Bedi are about to get married in Detroit, MI at the end of October and have asked to make their weekend a tiny bit more special. They have asked us to conduct a Bone Marrow Drive at their wedding. It is a brilliant idea!
Only at Indian weddings can you ensure 300+ attendees who are committed to share a special occasion with their family and friends. It is a perfect time to piggy back off of that positive energy to educate attendees on being a committed Bone Marrow Donor and registering them. Currently, there is a 1 in 20,000 chance for a South Asian to find a bone marrow match (1 in 10 for Caucasians).
So, at Soni & Raji’s wedding, we will be conducting our first Bone Marrow Drive in-between the wedding ceremony and reception. Not to interfere with the festivities, but to augment them. Kudos to them for being socially responsible and paving the way for couples in the future. I’m proud to say that I’m close friends with them and they will help a patient find a donor match.
Soni and Raji #makemestronger.
Congratulations Soni & Raji!
Wishing you both the best in this new journey you’re about to embark on as husband and wife.
Ekata you’re the strength and the spirit of #makemestronger. You inspire us to keep being better than we were yesterday. We are stronger through your example and will continue to follow your footsteps for years to come – #makeusstronger.
Thank you for the letter and the incredible friendship! We love you.
